Cold Concepts Refrigeration approached AirDoor to explore solutions for operational challenges affecting five warehouse locations in Queensland, Australia.
Coles Supermarkets, one of the largest supermarket chains in Australia were facing constant battles with heat, humidity and air infiltration due to the tropical climate, especially in back-of-house areas and had tasked Cold Concepts with finding a solution.
Project Challenges:
Open loading doors were allowing significant levels of warm, moisture-laden air to enter the warehouse environment. This created uncomfortable internal working temperatures and, over time, resulted in elevated humidity levels and increased load on HVAC systems.
To better understand how AirDoor could support them, Cold Concepts visited AirDoor’s UK facilities to review the technology and assess its suitability for their operational needs.
The Install:
The AirDoor team worked directly with Cold Concepts to implement a solution using AirDoor Lite technology. Following manufacture in the UK, the AirDoor team travelled to Queensland to support the installation of the first Air Door Lite system at the rear of one of the warehouse locations. These systems were positioned at open loading doors to reduce the ingress of humid external air. Once fully installed and commissioned, the AirDoor team trained Cold Concepts’ team on-site to be able to confidently roll out across four further warehouse sites – whilst being on hand at all times to offer guidance and expertise.
The Result:
By reducing the entry of warm, moisture-heavy air through open access points, AirDoor has helped improve internal working conditions and supported better humidity control within the warehouse environment.
