Project Challenges:
Hanlon’s Gala in Longford, Ireland, became the first retail site to install AirDoor Curve, an innovative airflow technology developed by AirDoor in collaboration with Wirth Research to transform refrigerated retail environments.
The store wanted to create a more inviting customer experience within its walk-in beer cave, while maintaining a consistent chilled environment and reducing the impact of warm air and humidity entering the space. Traditional refrigerated entrances often create a barrier for customers and place additional demand on refrigeration systems.
AirDoor Curve is an advanced aerodynamic air barrier designed to replace physical doors between adjoining indoor spaces with different temperatures. Its unique twisted pillar design controls the movement of warm and cold air, creating thermal separation while allowing the entrance to remain fully open.
“This technology has really helped our store to stand out. Being the first of its kind, I have been blown away by the increase in beer sales, especially during the summer months. The lack of a physical door has created a more inviting atmosphere for prospective customers.”
The Result:
Since the installation of AirDoor Curve, Hanlon’s Gala has reported a 35% increase in year-on-year beer sales, demonstrating how improving the customer experience can also deliver measurable commercial results.
By maintaining the chilled environment without a physical barrier, AirDoor Curve has created a more accessible beer cave while supporting more efficient refrigeration performance. Operating using only low-energy fans and without additional heating or cooling elements, the system has delivered these benefits with no increase in energy costs, while also helping to reduce condensation and frost build-up.
